US Vehicle Replacement Rate
1. Background:In conjunction with the increase in oil prices, the company needs to better understand the US vehicle fleet and replacement rates required to improve overall vehicle economy..
2. Data to be collected.
a. Total U.S. Vehicles:Data should be segmented by cars, light trucks , and other
b. Vehicle replacement rates:Historical vehicle replacement rates need to be collected.Data should be segmented by standard vehicle production and recent hybrid vehicle production.
c. Sources of data can include U.S. Government websites and major car manufacturer reports.
3. Analysis & Scenarios.
a. Scenario 1:Total time to replace existing fleet with hybrid vehicles utilizing current and planned hybrid production rates
b. Scenario 2:Total time to replace existing fleet with hybrid vehicles assuming existing production capacity shifts to full production capacity(all production is hybrid) at varying rates of transition growth (4%, 10%, and 15%).
4. Output Data
a. Time Frame:2008-2020
b. Remaining non-hybrid vehicle fleet size
c. Size of hybrid vehicle fleet size
5. All responses should include CVs with personnel involved, prior analysis conducted, and cost in US dollars.Any additional information suggested and/or proposed is welcome beyond the 3 required data pieces.
6. Before analysis is conducted, a review of initial data sources to be used will be submitted and approved.All data should be provided in excel format.
7. All analysis will be considered proprietary and the property of the firm.
