Is there already a existing application with an API that we can call to insert the information into. Like, is there a Payment Journal and receipts journal already existing with an API to call or do we have to develop this? Please let us know. COMMENTS: We assume that you are running off a MS Access DB and the relevant information for the purposes of reconciliation is ported to SQL where the reconciliation is actually done, since you have mentioned a manual process We presume the existence of a UI. Please find enclosed our response to your requirement point by :- 1) We think off a MS Access DB a DTS is a good option – we use it very effectively for gathering information from client machines and then putting it into SQL, there might be a possibility that the DTS might need to be tweaked a bit for better performance. From a more current option the Access Data can be converted to XML and that can be imported into the system, We still feel that DTS if done right between two databases is pretty robust 2) A little more insight into the kind of problems encountered would be helpful to analyse the reasons on the application not being not very stable, may be some tuning would be required 3) The applications referred to, import the information sent by banks in OFX (Open Financial Exchange) format, so if their bank provides the statement in this format the system can be automated on the lines mentioned by you. OFX is basically a data stream for exchanging financial information. We would need to write code to interpret the OFX statement received from the bank and once interpreted match the information from the internal books to do the reconciliation. We can do this . need to discuss details. The charges quoted are for a person day engagement.
