IT RELATED (ENABLED) SERVICES

TRANSINDIA TRANSCRIBERS has, in the area of IT enabled services, undertaken the following projects:

· Medical Transcription.
In this area, we already have trained manpower and have a contract from three companies. Having started production in April - May 2001, with 1500 lines/day. We are presently doing 15000 to 18000 lines on per day basis, which makes about 5 lacs lines per month. We have a present staff of 48 MT/QAs. Our clients in the USA demand 98.5% accuracy level, and one of them insures this by certification of Medical Transcriptionists doing their job.

PROCESS:
We support the dictations in DSS, .wav, qcp, .dvf, and vox format at our end and are uploaded to designated folders in the server at the client’s end. The client may manage this server. However, TransIndia also has server space for all of its clients. These are downloaded by TransIndia, transcribed, put through editing, proofreading, and format/template verification and uploaded in MS-Word format and coral word perfect 10.0 as per client’s requirement.

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
The Health Insurance portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), passed by US congress in 1996, was created with the intent to accomplish two major objectives:
1. 1. Preserve the portability of health insurance coverage for people who are chronically ill or who lose their jobs and group insurance.
2. Enable providers and payers to switch from paper claims to an electronic claims system.
In this way, HIPAA aims to reduce cost of service and administration burden.

These HIPAA standards, contained in the Act. lay the ground rules for creation, exchange and maintenance of all healthcare related information. HIPAA standards require an extensive amount of regulations on all fronts such as access control, audit trail, accountability, authentication, e-signature, data backup, etc.
All entities including healthcare providers, insurance companies and intermediaries fall under the purview of HIPAA. In respect of healthcare service providers, 6,700 acute care hospitals, 40,000 nursing homes and 1,000,000 physicians in the USA fall under its purview. They need to streamline their entire processes and be compliant by March 2003. The Act envisages heavy penalties for non-compliance.

The governing frame work we have created is used for defining and managing the HIPAA initiatives.

We also understand the fact that the HIPAA regulations have still not been finalized and are subjected to change. TransIndia Transcribers’ principle is to make all the reasonable efforts to be knowledgeable and responsive for HIPAA regulations, reduce paperwork, streamline the inefficiencies of the industry, make it easier to identify and bring to court for fraud and mistreatment, and enable the workers from all occupations to change their jobs, thus to achieve HIPAA compliance within the mandated timeline.

For support from the hospital/clinic we get:

1. Hospital information.
2. Template, which includes space for ID numbers, patient's MR#, Patient Name, Dictator, Date of Dictation, and Transcription date, etc.
3. Standards - these are sets of standard dictations of a particular doctor. These help us in understanding the accent of that doctor and his style of dictation.
