DESCRIPTION
Established in 1998 in Chichester, West Sussex, Tennyson is a Sales Business Process Outsourcer and a member of the National Outsourcing Association. Rather than being responsible for any one single element of the sales cycle, (e.g. lead generation), we take full accountability for our clients revenue and profit objectives by managing the whole sales process.
We work exclusively with a small number of blue chip clients, providing bespoke, branded phone and field based sales teams. These teams deliver new business development, account management and channel management (each link to Services) capabilities, together with a supporting range of marketing, customer service and back office functions.
Our client list includes Cable & Wireless, Accenture and Royal Mail (Each link to the relevant case study). Currently we manage approximately £70m of client revenues and are targeted on £9.5m of new business growth.
Our company is focused on selling. We do not design, manufacture or distribute products - we sell. Our R&D effort is dedicated to best practice and new thinking in sales. This singular focus on sales releases performance gains and allows our clients to concentrate on the parts of their business crucial to long-term success.
We strive to offer a higher rate of return than alternative direct and indirect sales channels. Working with only one client in each market sector, our engagement is based on a long-term partnership.
Each sales team is recruited and trained specifically for each client brief - we do not employ a pool of generalists. We do not offshore and do not expect to provide competitive advantage through headcount costs alone.
Unlike IT or finance, sales outsourcing is unlikely to include the wholesale replacement or transition of existing sales personnel. Free from internal constraints, we create tailored, flexible roles that improve sales productivity. Our focus is always on working smarter to deliver an improved result and increased performance.
SKILLS
We use a bespoke methodology to select, train and develop successful sales teams performing the following activities:
New business development
- prospect previously uncovered territories, to develop new markets
- increase the rate of new business orders taken from existing markets (versus existing sales channels)
- take new products to existing customers
Account management
- reduce attrition of customers and/or revenues
- improve customer satisfaction scores
- increase the ‘share of wallet’
- change the product mix and/or increase the average order value from existing customers
- reduce debt
- improve profitability through a reduced cost to serve
Opportunity development
- prospect identification and opportunity development for larger, more complex deals, releasing the productivity of higher value employees (e.g. the partner of a leading legal firm, or a high value sales specialist)
Channel management
- establish new distribution channels for selected products and services, providing access to new markets and dynamic revenue streams
- manage existing channels and partners for increased revenue growth and profit
