SKILLS
In August 1995, I established KGBL Consultants Limited, to work in the areas of Research, Strategic Planning and Knowledge Management. KGBL sought to consolidate most of my freelance activities, and was positioned as an intellectual partner company that would help our clients to create specific, quantifiable, achievable expectations; manage those expectations by warding off threats and building back-ups; evaluate and recreate those expectations as scenarios change. This would enable the company to provide expertise in corporate, social and economic research; strategy building and strategic planning; as well as knowledge creation and management. So far, we have kept faith with our corporate credo of spotless reputation.
By November 1996, the government appointed me into the Technical Team of Vision 2010 Nigeria. I was part of the Strategy Team that designed and managed the Visioning Process. My responsibilities included the design of Workshop Agenda, preparation of talking points for other Committee members, conducting impact appraisal and sensitizing the various stakeholder groups within and outside Nigeria.
On this project, I exhibited strong numeric and written communication skills; expertise in Systems Dynamics and Scenario Planning. I shared direct responsibility for the overall Group Work as well as Final Reports of the Committees on Infrastructure, Poverty Alleviation, Rural Development, Small/Medium Enterprises, Labor Management, Pensions/Savings and Security.
The Vision 2010 project was a positive landmark for my business, because it exposed us to an entirely new, high profile client network, which we are tapping till today. However, we owe much of our growth to public sector institutions and parastatals that are more forthcoming in offering opportunities to indigenous consultants. KGBL remains a small firm with three partners and twelve professional staff. We have done very well in the field we have played so far. However, we desire to break free from
